Online Bystander Intervention
Bystander intervention has been proven to be one the most effective strategies to prevent violence and encourage accountability in our communities.  However, this approach doesn't always translate well to online spaces, where we must adapt our strategies to navigate unique biases, power dynamics, and abusive behaviors. Here, we will focus on equipping students with practical and effective bystander intervention strategies tailored for our digital lives.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the unique dynamics and barriers to bystander intervention in online environments.
  • Recognize digital situations where intervention is needed to prevent harm or reinforce accountability.
  • Practice effective online bystander intervention techniques that promote safer digital communities.
