Below the Surface: Dealing with Trauma and Victimization in Domestic Violence Cases

The Cherokee County Domestic Violence Task Force proudly invites law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and victim advocates to attend the Below the Surface: Dealing with Trauma and Victimization in Domestic Violence Cases. The training will be located at the Cherokee Justice Center, 90 North Street, Canton, Georgia, 30114. The training will begin at 8:00am and conclude at 5:00pm.
This full-day of training will provide a greater understanding of the hidden complexities associated with the recognition, assessment, and documentation of strangulation cases. It will also provide an in-depth look at how perpetrators have started utilizing new technology to stalk their victims and how investigative tools can link perpetrators to their crime. Finally, participants will be introduced to the neurobiology of trauma and the impact of trauma and high-stress on memory, communication, and recall and will then be provided guidelines on how to utilize this information to obtain a better victim interview.
This training is sponsored by the Cherokee County District Attorney's Office, Cherokee County Solicitor-General's Office, Cherokee Family Violence Center, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, and the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council.
This training will offer 7.5 CLE hours and 7 POST hours. The forms will be provided the morning of the training. If you are requesting CLE credit, the charge for 7.5 hours is $30. The CLE form and check can be mailed to PAC.
