Forsyth County Domestic Violence Task Force (FCDVTF) and Raksha, Inc. will conduct a 3 hour mini training on June 26, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Forsyth County United Way Building. The presenters for this mini training are Mrs. Michelle Toledo Cainas, consultant and co-chair for FCDVTF and Ms. Aparna Bhattacharyya, Executive Director, Raksha, Inc.

Training Description: As the Forsyth County population grows increasingly diverse, being culturally competent in our profession can help further our understanding of individuals’ diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors; which will allow providers to better meet each individual’s social, cultural, and linguistic needs. The training will examine two of Forsyth's growing populations - Latino/Hispanic and Asian - especially when addressing these communities in family/domestic violence scenarios.

Training Goals:

Define culture and cultural competence

Explore and understand Latino/Hispanic and Asian Communities

Reflect on strategies when working with Latinos/Asian Survivors of Domestic Violence

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m and the training will promptly begin at 9:00 a.m. Bring a light jacket/sweater.
