ATLANTA - The Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) presented its “Task Force of the Year Award” to the Lumpkin County Coordinated Community Response Team at the Commission’s annual Statewide Family Violence Conference.

“This is not an individual accomplishment, but a collective effort of all the people and organizations involved. We would like to thank No One Alone (NOA) and the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office for their continued support in our future endeavors,” said Chair of the Lumpkin County Coordinated Community Response Team, LaJauhn Brewer-Stulce.

Nancy Dickerson, Chair of the Lumpkin County Task Force’s Education Committee added, “It is truly an honor to receive GCFV’s 'Task Force of the Year Award.' Much of our work revolves around building relationships from person to person all the way up to the state level. Involving as many people as we can helps ensure victims are kept safe and offenders are held accountable.”

The “Task Force of the Year Award” is presented to a Family Violence Task Force that is implementing a Coordinated Community Response in an effort to increase victim safety and offender accountability.

GCFV Executive Director Jennifer Thomas said, "GCFV is pleased to present the 'Task Force of the Year Award' to the Lumpkin County Coordinated Community Response Team. The work that this dedicated group of individuals have accomplished over a short period of time highlights their willingness to collaborate as they seek to address family violence issues in their community. Their efforts are inspiring and serve as a model for the state.”

This was the Commission’s twenty-second annual Statewide Family Violence Conference. The event was held at the Jekyll Island Convention Center in Jekyll Island, Georgia. The theme of this year’s conference was “Mending the Ties that Bind: Domestic Violence and the Family Unit.” Over 500 local and national community stakeholders including: judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, advocates, survivors, faith leaders, counselors and community members participated in the conference.
