“And Justice for All…” Are our systems working for all participants in the criminal justice system? How about for victims? How about for survivors? Are we providing justice for all – or simply justice for some? We have created complicated criminal response systems – sometimes perhaps too complicated for our own good and for the communities we serve. We have built programs and silos between various disciplines and crime types. Child abuse silos, domestic violence silos, sexual assault silos, etc. all of which detract from looking across the full spectrum of crime and criminal activity. We must acknowledge we have made significant improvements over the years, but our journey toward true justice is far from over. We have learned that many offenders commit a variety of crossover crimes, harmful behaviors often share many of the same risk and protective factors, and there is great hope in comprehensive integrated prevention.

This presentation focuses on identifying strengths and challenges we face and recommendations towards breaking down the barriers between various criminal justice disciplines to foster true multidisciplinary collaboration. By bringing together professionals from law enforcement, victim advocacy, prosecutors, healthcare providers, probation, and parole, we aim to explore the benefits of working together seamlessly to achieve common goals in the pursuit of true justice and support for all.
