There are several new training requirements for Certified Facilitators and individuals seeking Facilitator Certification under the new FVIP Rules. Please review the Rules to familiarize yourself with the new requirements.
 

FVIP Basics Training

The Georgia Commission on Family Violence will offer the 3-Day FVIP Basics training 3 times a year. This training is open to all Certified Facilitators, and is required for all Facilitators in Training. The training is free and provides FVIP continuing education hours.
 

Facilitators in Training

  • Attend Day 1 or all 3 Days to fulfill your 6-hour or 20-hour requirement GCFV-provided training requirement.
  • Facilitators in Training MUST complete the first day of FVIP Basics before beginning any other facilitator certification requirements.
     

Certified Facilitators

  • Attend Day 1, Day 2, or Day 3 for FVIP continuing education requirements.
  • Certified Facilitator can also attend the morning session of Day 3 for their 3 Hour training requirement on the new FVIP Rules.
     

February 10th: FVIP Basics 1: Joining the Movement to End Family Violence (6 Hours)

This training explores the movement to end family violence through discussions and activities, including a review of the history of batterer intervention programs in the United States and Georgia. An overview of research on the effectiveness of batterer intervention programs will be provided. The training will conclude with a detailed discussion on the steps and requirements of facilitator certification.  
 

February 11th: FVIP Basics 2: Safety & Accountability (7 Hours)

This training explores the role of victim safety and participant accountability in the work to family violence intervention programs in Georgia. Explore the concept of accountability, discuss to whom are family violence intervention programs accountable, and how can we embrace and uphold victim safety as the core of work with batterers. The training will include a detailed overview of the role and requirements of Victim Liaisons.
 

February 12th: FVIP Basics 3: Participant, Program & Class Process (7 Hours)

This training covers updates to the FVIP Rules concerning the entire FVIP process, from participant referral, to intake and exit procedures, to class design, class rules, facilitation considerations, class culture and group process, compliance monitoring and reporting. Attend just the morning session (9 AM - 12 PM) to meet the 3 Hour training requirement on the new FVIP Rules, or stay the whole day to continue in meaningful discussion.
