ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) is making this holiday season more enjoyable for children and families in need. Over the past few weeks, agency employees have donated over four hundred toys and food items.

DCS Commissioner Michael Nail says this undertaking speaks to who we are as an agency.   

“The toy and food drive truly reflects the hearts and minds of our employees and this effort well represents our department’s values of selfless service and teamwork. Giving is what the holiday season is all about and I am thankful and honored our team members understand this and, more importantly, are willing to work together to make a difference,” said Nail.

DCS has partnered with the Georgia Commission on Family Violence (GCFV) to deliver the donated toys to children who are victims of domestic violence in Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb, Clayton and Troup County.     

Accepting the donations on behalf of the GCFV, Executive Director Jennifer Thomas says she is appreciative of the Commission’s partnership with DCS.

“The GCVF is excited to partner with DCS to bring a bit of happiness to children impacted by domestic violence during this difficult time in their lives. These donations will ensure they are not forgotten this holiday season,” said Thomas.  

The donated food items will be delivered to the Atlanta Community Food Bank for distribution to more than six hundred nonprofit partner agencies serving families and individuals in twenty-nine counties.
