"Do these programs actually work?" It sounds like a simple question, but the answer is complex. For years, the field has struggled to find a single way to measure success. Is success a lack of new arrests? Is it a change in how a person thinks? Or is it measured by the safety and peace of the person who was harmed? This workshop pulls back the curtain on decades of research. We will move past the simple yes or no question and look at what the research really tells us. Whether you are a funder, a leader, or a facilitator, this session will help you understand the evidence behind the work. 

By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

1. Identify the main types of studies used to look at abuse intervention and what each one can (and cannot) tell us. 

2. Explain why official police records often fail to show the full picture of a person’s behavior or a survivor’s safety. 

3. Describe different ways to measure impact, including survivor feedback, shift in core beliefs, and community accountability. 

4. Learn how to tell the difference between a high-quality study and data that might be misleading or incomplete. 

5. Use current research trends to make strategic decisions about program design and funding.
