Safe Sacred Space: Train the Trainer
This training has been approved for 3 CE Hours for FVIP Facilitators.
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Sacred communities of faith play a significant role in the lives of victims, abusers, and their families. Faith leaders are uniquely positioned to provide an effective and compassionate response to those who are experiencing domestic violence. Fatality reviews have revealed that victims, survivors, and surviving family members consistently turned to sacred communities for support and safety, whether they disclosed the abuse they experience or not.
The Georgia Domestic Violence Fatality Review Project is hosting this Train the Trainer to assist Family Violence Task Forces and Fatality Review Teams in their work to create change in their communities and implement fatality review recommendations. Training participants will learn more about the recently updated Safe Sacred Space training materials and different ways to deliver the training content to local faith communities. Participants will have a chance to practice using the Safe Sacred Space materials and increase their comfort with them. Participants will gain an increased understanding of the intersections of faith and domestic violence and will enhance their ability to apply adult learning principles and considerations to their training program.
Intended Audience: Fatality Review Team members, Family Violence Task Force members, and domestic violence program staff.
Continuing Education Units: This training has been approved by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for continuing education units (CEUs) for state-certified domestic violence shelters and by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence for 3 FVIP CE hours.
