Prerequisites: Georgia Peace Officer Certification and preferably, current assignment as a Sexual Assault Investigator.
Who Should Attend: This course is intended for Georgia Peace Officers interested in, or assigned to, investigative units tasked with the investigation of sexually based offenses.
This comprehensive training program was developed was developed with the assistance of experts from law enforcement, prosecution, and victim services. The course covers responding to victims of sexually based offenses from a victim-centered perspective. The course will provide sexual assault investigators with basic and advanced skills to improve their investigative response to sexually based offenses. Some of the topics to be covered include the dynamics of assault as well as some myths and misconceptions, investigative strategy and responsibilities, as well as some case scenarios.
