Training participants will understand the connections between suicide and domestic violence and become certified as a Q.P.R. Gatekeeper. The Q.P.R. suicide intervention model introduces three simple steps that anyone can do to help save a life from suicide -- Question, Persuade and Refer. Participants will learn the warning signs of suicide and how to question someone about it. They will learn tips for persuading someone experiencing a suicide crisis to get help and will practice preferred methods for referring someone for assistance. This training is presented by Taylor Tabb, Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Niki Lemeshka, Georgia Commission on Family Violence.

Two sessions are being offered on Thursday, October 5, 2017 10:00 AM –12:00PM OR 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM.

Continuing Education Units:  This training has been approved by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for continuing education units (CEUs) for state-certified domestic violence shelters, by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence for 2 FVIP CE hour and POST for 2 credit hours.
