Kit Gruelle is a survivor of domestic violence and a tireless advocate for justice for battered women and their children.  For almost 30 year, Ms. Gruelle has trained advocates, criminal justice professions, health care providers, legislators and other allied professionals to intervene in, and prevent, domestic violence and family abuse. She is a Subject Matter Expert for California Peace Officer Standards and Training, and she has served as a domestic violence expert witness in both state and federal court. Ms. Gruelle is the creator of the BRIDGES Program, one of the first Coordinated Community Response Programs in North Carolina and served as a commissioner for the North Carolina Crime Victims Compensation for twelve years. Kit Gruelle is the subject of Private Violence, an intimate and compelling documentary on domestic violence. The film and the accompanying outreach program illuminates the realities battered women still face in the US and provide a forum for bringing communities together to address and end this hidden epidemic.
