SUMMARY:You Made Me Hit You: Addressing Accountability in FVIP Groups
DESCRIPTION:One of the major goals of family violence intervention programs
is assisting perpetrators in accepting full responsibility and accountabi
lity for their abusive actions.   Most perpetrators’ explanations of
abuse promote an avoidance of responsibility.   In order to accept resp
onsibility\, the perpetrator must fully acknowledge the existence and sign
ificance of the abuse and understand the potential impact of his abusive a
ctions upon the victim and others.   He must accept and become accounta
ble for his actions and bear the full onus for ceasing his abuse and chang
ing his behavior. \n\n  \n\nThis workshop will help Family Violence Int
ervention Facilitators in providing psychoeducational experiences that ass
ist perpetrators in developing accountability for their behaviors and taki
ng responsibility for ceasing and changing their abusive behaviors\n\n\n\n

ved by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence for 6 FVIP hours.\n\n
