 ation\n\nFor many individuals in abuse intervention programs\, the role of
  "parent" is their most cherished identity and their greatest area of deni
 al. Traditional intervention models frequently treat partner abuse and par
 enting as separate issues\, yet we know that the tactics used to control a
  partner are the same tactics that harm children and destabilize the home.
  This workshop challenges facilitators to lean into the work of bridging t
 his gap. We will explore how to use a participant's desire to be a "good p
 arent" as a strategic lever for accountability. By centering the experienc
 es of children and the non-abusive parent\, facilitators can move beyond c
 ompliance-based learning toward authentic\, long-term behavior change. We 
 aren't teaching them how to be "better dads"\; we are teaching them that t
 he first step to being a good father is becoming a safe and respectful man
 . \n\nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\n1.
  Articulate the specific ways that coercive control and domestic violence 
 directly undermine child development\, even when the child is not the prim
 ary target of physical abuse. \n\n2. Learn techniques to challenge the co
 gnitive dissonance of participants who believe their domestic violence doe
 s not impact their parenting. \n\n3. Demonstrate techniques to use a part
 icipant’s motivation as a parent to break through the common barriers of
  minimization and denial. \n\n4. Identify strategies to help participants
  recognize how their behavior has intentionally or unintentionally sabotag
 ed the other parent’s authority and bond with the children.  \n\nRegis
 tration closes November 8\, 2026. The training costs $20 (nonrefundable).
