 ory first step for individuals seeking state certification to facilitate c
 lasses or own a Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP).\n\nUnder the 
 REVISED FVIP Rules 2026\, this session serves as a gateway to the certific
 ation process for both Facilitators and Program Owners.\n\nPurpose and Req
 uirementsMandatory Entry Point: Attending an Informational Session is requ
 ired before you can enroll in "FVIP Basics\," the primary 14-hour state-de
 livered training.Background Check Authorization: During the session\, appl
 icants must submit a signed authorization for the Georgia Commission on Fa
 mily Violence (GCFV) to conduct a comprehensive background check.Scope of 
 Check: The background check includes criminal history\, the Georgia Protec
 tive Order Registry\, and Department of Motor Vehicles records. You must r
 eceive approval from this check before proceeding to further training.Trai
 ning Credit: The informational session does not count toward the required 
 training or continuing education hours needed for certification.Grandfathe
 r Process:  If you have already started the certification process\, you w
 ill receive guidance on how the grandfather process works under the new ru
 les.\n\nFor Prospective Facilitators\n\nAs part of the initial certificati
 on\, a Facilitator must:Attend the Informational Session.Complete the back
 ground check.Enroll in FVIP Basics.\n\nFor Prospective Program Owners (Pro
 viders)\n\nProgram Owners must follow a similar path:Attend the Informatio
 nal Session.Complete the background check.Enroll FVIP Basics.\n\nNote for 
 Participants: If you are court-ordered to attend FVIP classes\, this train
 ing is not for you\, you must visit gcfv.ga.gov and enroll in a court-orde
 red class by a certified provider.
