SUMMARY:Safe Sacred Space: Train the Trainer
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Sacred communities of faith play a significant role in the live
s of victims\, abusers\, and their families. Faith leaders are uniquely p
ositioned to provide an effective and compassionate response to those who
are experiencing domestic violence. Fatality reviews have revealed that
victims\, survivors\, and surviving family members consistently turned to
sacred communities for support and safety\, whether they disclosed the ab
use they experience or not.\n\nThe Georgia Domestic Violence Fatality Revi
ew Project is hosting this Train the Trainer to assist Family Violence Ta
sk Forces and Fatality Review Teams in their work to create change in thei
r communities and implement fatality review recommendations. Training par
ticipants will learn more about the recently updated Safe Sacred Space tr
aining materials and different ways to deliver the training content to lo
cal faith communities. Participants will have a chance to practice using
the Safe Sacred Space materials and increase their comfort with them. Par
ticipants will gain an increased understanding of the intersections of fai
th and domestic violence and will enhance their ability to apply adult le
arning principles and considerations to their training program.\n\nIntend
ed Audience: Fatality Review Team members\, Family Violence Task Force mem
bers\, and domestic violence program staff. \n\nContinuing Education Uni
ts: This training has been approved by the Criminal Justice Coordinating
Council for continuing education units (CEUs) for state-certified domestic
violence shelters and by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence for 3
  FVIP CE hours.\n\nRegister by August 10th: http://www.cvent.com/d/mvqnv6
